Skin Cancer Risks

I got a lot of sun exposure as a child living in New Mexico. I also got sun poisoning when visiting California at the age of 16 and being a dummy that didn't put on a shirt when going out to play in the ocean at 2 PM. There were tiny blisters all over the exposed area of my chest and shoulders (above the breast area of the swim suit.) I used to get blisters on my back all the time from sun exposure as a child. This was back in the early 1970's. We didn't know. A good healthy tan was the thing to aim for and if you get burnt in the process, so be it.
A number of years ago I had a mole removed from my torso that had developed an irregular border. It turned out to be benign, but it worried me a bit.
My father had a friend who died in his early 40's from melanoma. The melanoma was behind his ear and it wasn't discovered until it was too late.

Re: moles - I have similar worries for similar reasons. :(
